What does "vaulted" actually tell you about a Pop?

"Vaulted" gets thrown around a lot in Funko threads, but it's worth being precise about what it actually tells you.

Vaulted just means Funko has officially retired that specific Pop! from active production - it won't be re-run in the same design, box art, or sticker. It doesn't retroactively make a common figure rare, and it doesn't guarantee the aftermarket price will move. Plenty of vaulted Pops sit at the same price they always were, because the print run was large enough that supply kept up with demand even after retirement.

A few things that matter more than the "vaulted" label by itself:

- Original run size, if it's known - a vaulted Pop from a 1,000-piece exclusive run behaves very differently from one that was a mainline retail SKU sitting on shelves for two years.
- Whether it was an exclusive (convention, retailer-specific, etc.) at the time of release.
- How deep the character or franchise fanbase actually is - vaulted status on a niche side-character rarely moves the needle the way it does on a flagship character.

So when a listing says "vaulted," treat it as one data point, not a verdict. Worth checking the actual production context before assuming it's suddenly valuable.

Curious what everyone else uses as their own checklist once a Pop gets vaulted - anything else you factor in before deciding it's worth holding onto?
