When I get home from my job there are toys spread all over the house, my son plays in every room (we have four rooms) and he leaves its toys anywhere. My wife is always cleaning and take its toys and put them in its room but the next days is the same. We have talked to him not to do this anymore but he is not listening to us, we tried different punishments but he is still doing the same thing.
What is to be done in this situation?

Tell him to clean up after playing. If he doesn't, then take away his toys and don't give it back until the next day. Then tell him again that he has to learn how to clean up or he won't get his toys back.

Since you have four rooms, I think much better to give the one room for the place to play. All toys should be in there. You don't need to clean it all the time, all you have to do is to close the door and teach your kid to become responsible to clean up his/she's own toys.

yup I guess these should do the thing, I don't really think that punishment is a good Idea but more of a parent and child bonding like try to play with him, then whenever it is time for snacks of food show to him that we must clean the area and put all the toys in the proper place, I guess children likes to imitate what adult normally do.

You're right. Kids should have responsibilities even at young age. It's not punishment, it's responsibility, kids will become smart by doing that and will bring this lesson when they get older.

You would have to teach your kid how to pack up his toys whenever he's done playing with them. If not for anything but for his own safety because when the toys are littered all over the places, it's a trap that can make you slip and fall.

I was a culprit of doing the same thing with my own toys when I was still a kid. But my father flogged me one day when he got and saw all my toys all over the places. Since after that day, I always pack my toys whenever I was done playing with them.

Kids will always behave like kids until they are taught how to take care of their own mess. If you don't, he's going to keep behaving that way with his toys until either he gets injured or another person at home does.

I think you should consider not buying any new toys for him because the ones that he currently owned, he is not taking very good care of them and I believe that you should take some of the toys away so that he will have a few of them to play with.

Take away all of his toys from him. It's going to make him feel sad and after a while tell him the reason why his toys was taken away. When you finally give them to him back, he's definitely going to behave.

This was exactly the same thing my parents did to me when I was still a kid and I had to learn how to pack up my own plane toys whenever I am done so that the whole house is not going to be unkempt and it won't put me at risk of getting injured.

My kids are very careful with how they are making use of their toys. They take good care of their toys and park them up whenever they are no longer playing with them.

my daughter was a bit older, si she didn't leave toys everywhere she left clothes and electronics everywhere. I gave her one warning, then if i picked it up it became mine. I would lock it all up in cabinets. if she wanted it back she bought it from me with extra chores.

after about 6 months even her bedroom was immaculate

The only solution is to create a space in one of the room for him. All his toys should be kept in one room and even so, provide a box where he put them back after playing with strict warning for him to always put them back or he won't play with them again.
